Houston care guide

Match the name to the Texas record.

Look up the person providing your care, then check the pharmacy too. A badge in an advert is another claim to check.

Assumption to set aside · A Houston address or a polished page settles the check.

Begin with the person who would see you

Ask for their full name and role before looking for a record. A website’s trading name may not be the name you need to search.

The Texas Medical Board search covers doctors and physician assistants, and shows licence details plus board actions where applicable.

A board action is an official step such as a disciplinary order; read what the record says rather than guessing from a label.

Use a different record for a nurse

A nurse practitioner’s nursing role can include writing prescriptions. In Texas, this requires a doctor’s written agreement, under rules checked September 26, 2026. Check the nursing licence with the Texas Board of Nursing.

A physician assistant also needs a written prescribing agreement with a supervising doctor under those Texas rules.

Check the pharmacy as a separate business

Get the name of the business making the medicine, then the name of the pharmacy sending it. Put both beside the clinician’s name.

Use the Texas State Board of Pharmacy for the pharmacy record. Its search also covers pharmacists and pharmacies elsewhere that hold Texas licences.

Look up the pharmacy in Texas records

Mailing a prescription to Texas from a pharmacy elsewhere generally requires a Texas pharmacy licence, under the rule checked September 26, 2026.

For a pharmacy sending only occasional prescription orders to Texas, the board may grant an exception to the licence rule. A single order from you does not show that the pharmacy has this exception. Ask the pharmacy for its Texas licence or the board’s permission to operate without it.

A clean record has limits

Even a record with no public action cannot rate how well a person will care for you.

Likewise, a pharmacy’s licence does not establish that every medicine it supplies is appropriate.

Keep the record check beside your other questions: what the medicine is, why it is being proposed and how follow-up will work.

Can you explain the treatment in words I can repeat back?

A badge is a different kind of claim

The Food and Drug Administration uses FDA as its short name. Being registered as a business or listing a medicine with FDA does not mean the drug is approved or can legally be sold, under the rule checked September 26, 2026.

Private accreditation checks a business against a set of standards; it does not replace a state licence.

That check does not test each batch of a custom mix or measure the results patients get from treatment.
